Interventional Treatment for Complete Occlusion of Arteriovenous Shunt: Our Experience in 39 cases
نویسنده
چکیده
Complete occlusion of arteriovenous shunt is a feared complication of hemodialysis due to limited vessels suitable for reconstruction of arteriovenous shunt. For prolonged use of the arteriovenous shunt, there are many methods for restoring the function of the occluded arteriovenous shunts. So far the standard treatment for complete occlusion of arteriovenous shunt is surgery. Interventional procedure serves as an alternative method for restoring the function of the arteriovenous shunt. All of the patients in our study had underlying stenosis of blood vessels. The interventional treatment we performed could restore the normal blood flow in the occluded arteriovenous shunt and provide dilatation of the underlying stenosis by performing percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) at the same time.

Spontaneous angiographic conversion of intracranial dural arteriovenous shunt: long-term follow-up in nontreated patients.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Dural arteriovenous shunt (DAVS) is a disease in which abnormal arteriovenous communications develop within the dura. Some case series have suggested DAVS may evolve over time, but the natural history is poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to define the incidence and clinical characteristics of patients with DAVS showing spontaneous angiographic pattern conversion....
متن کاملEndovascular Treatment of Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas -Clinical and Radiographic Outcome Over A Long-Term Follow-Up
Background and Purpose: Dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) are pathologic shunts between dural arteries and dural venous sinuses, meningeal veins or cortical veins, representing 10%–15% of all intracranial vascular malformations. Although there are several treatment modalities such as surgical interruption of the fistula and stereotactic radiation therapy, endovascular embolization has recent...
متن کاملLong term effects of Gamma knife Radiosurgery for treatment of cerebral arteriovenous malformations
Abstract Background: The Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (GKR) is an established management option for Cerebral Ar-teriovenous Malformations (AVMS). Therapeutic benefits of radiosurgery for arteriovenous malformations are complete obliteration of nidus with minimal neurological deficit. Methods: Radiosurgery was performed between February 2003 and April 2010 at Kamraniye day clinic, Teh-ran, Iran, us...
متن کاملTranscatheter embolisation of intrahepatic arteriovenous shunts in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
This paper assesses the feasibility of transcatheter embolisation of arteriovenous shunts in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, and reviews available embolic agents, based on our experience and a literature review. From 2001 to 2007, 11 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma and significant arteriovenous shunts underwent transcatheter embolisation of liver arteriovenous shunts...
متن کامل[Mechanical coil embolization of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations].
PURPOSE To report our experience with mechanical coil embolization of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) MATERIAL AND METHODS: Coil embolizations were performed in 6 men (mean age 21.1, age range 20-23 years) with PAVM between 1999 and 2004. Five F Cobra catheters and various size coils were used for embolization. Clinically, cases were followed in every 3 months of their first year a...
